Finding an NA Meeting in Sunnyvale

The finder searches by proximity rather than by city limits. This is helpful in this area since Sunnyvale is in the middle of a dense stretch of the valley. A search from a Sunnyvale address will show meetings in Santa Clara, Mountain View, Los Altos and San Jose as well as local options.

The fastest way to find a meeting that fits your schedule is to widen the search radius. Two weekly meetings in Sunnyvale were listed in the September 2026 Greater San Jose Area’s printed schedule. Both groups offer home and hybrid settings.

Each of these meetings are open. This means anyone can attend such as family members and people who are still deciding whether NA is for them. The wider area schedule lists 86 meetings each week. These meetings include women’s and men’s meetings, Spanish-language meetings, Basic Text and step study groups, meditation meetings, and newcomer workshops.

If a specific format matters to you, the area helpline at 408-998-4200 is staffed around the clock and can tell you what is available on any given day. You can also browse the rest of the California NA meeting directory by city.

Sunnyvale’s meeting is a short walk from the civic center and main library in a walkable downtown area. This location is helpful when you need to use city transit.

Drug Use and Overdose in Santa Clara County

The national statistics has been improving for three consecutive years. What makes Santa Clara County different from the national trend is the drug is driving deaths in the local area. Deaths related to fentanyl are dropping but those related to methamphetamine are over 40%.

  • 67,798 predicted drug overdose deaths in the United States for the 12 months ending March 2026, a 12.3% decrease from the year before.
  • 115 overdose deaths in Santa Clara County linked to methamphetamine in 2024. This was close to 42% of all overdose deaths in the county that year and a 121.%2 increase over 2015.
  • 275 overdose deaths among Santa Clara County residents in 2024.  Fentanyl deaths were down 35.7% from their 2022 peak.

These are figures for the county. Sunnyvale does not publish data for the city.

Methamphetamine has appeared on death certificates in this county more often than opioids every year from 2015 through 2024. This includes the number of deaths related to fentanyl.

Emergency visits related to stimulant use have risen even as those related to opioids fall. Naloxone will not reverse a stimulant overdose. However, drugs bought on the street are sometimes corrupted with fentanyl. Naloxone can reverse the effects of fentanyl.  The harm reduction section below goes into greater depth about stimulant use.

Treatment Options In and Near Sunnyvale

Narcotics Anonymous is an important addition to your treatment plan. The support you receive works alongside professional treatment rather than in place of it. Addiction treatment is usually categorized in levels. These levels include withdrawal management, residential or inpatient programs, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient and ongoing recovery support.

Medications used to treat opioid use disorder are the standard of care supported by research evidence. Methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone are all approved by the FDA. NA’s  literature does not ask anyone to stop taking prescribed medication to participate in meetings. Anyone taking one of these medications is welcome at any meeting.

FindTreatment.gov searches Sunnyvale by ZIP code and filters the results by service, insurance and level of care. The SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day in English and Spanish.

Santa Clara County’s Behavioral Health Services Department handles local treatment access at 800-704-0900. The department helps people who are uninsured or on Medi-Cal find treatment.
