Finding an NA Meeting in Indio

The meeting finder searches by proximity, so it will also turn up meetings a short drive away in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and Desert Hot Springs. That range matters in a spread-out area like the Coachella Valley, where the closest meeting on a given night may not be in your own city.

Indio’s own meetings lean toward newcomers and families. In addition to open and closed discussion meetings, the city has dedicated Beginners and Women’s meetings, plus Basic Text and step study and meetings noted as welcoming children. That combination makes Indio a reasonable first stop for someone new to the program in this part of the valley.

Drug Use and Overdose in the Coachella Valley

The national trend has started to turn, even though totals are still high, and Riverside County’s own overdose burden falls unevenly across the county, with the Coachella Valley carrying a disproportionate share.

~97,000
estimated US overdose deaths in the year ending June 2024, a 14% drop from the year before
CDC provisional data, cited 2025
1,381
fatal overdoses countywide, January 2023 through July 2024, about 60% involving fentanyl
Riverside County Overdose Data to Action (RODA), RUHS Public Health, 2025
~1 in 4
of the county’s fentanyl-related deaths in early 2023 occurred in the Coachella Valley
DAP Health, citing Riverside County data, 2023

The third figure is county-reported data from 2023, the most recent Coachella Valley-specific breakdown available. It is dated since the data are older than the other two.

Treatment Options In and Near Indio

Treatment ranges from outpatient counseling to residential care, and for many people it includes medication. Methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are FDA-approved, evidence-based medications for opioid use disorder that work alongside NA rather than against it.

Riverside County operates an outpatient substance use clinic in Indio itself, at 83-912 Avenue 45, offering counseling on a sliding fee scale or with Medi-Cal, a genuine local access point rather than a countywide referral.

For a broader assessment, call the RUHS Substance Use Prevention and Treatment CARES Line at 800-499-3008. FindTreatment.gov and the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) can locate additional licensed programs throughout the valley. Read more about levels of care for narcotics addiction.

Naloxone and Harm Reduction

Naloxone is available in California without a prescription, and it has gotten cheaper. As of January 2026, CalRx-branded over-the-counter naloxone nasal spray costs about $19 for a two-dose pack. California’s Naloxone Distribution Project has given out more than 8.8 million free kits statewide since 2018.

DAP Health runs the Coachella Valley’s harm reduction program, distributing free naloxone and fentanyl test strips through a mobile team that serves the valley, including Indio.

Call 760-992-0453 for the current schedule or to request supplies. California’s Good Samaritan law also offers some protection from drug possession charges for someone who calls 911 to report an overdose. See what happens during an opioid overdose for more on recognizing and responding to one.
