About NA Meetings in Riverside

Narcotics Anonymous is a free, peer-led fellowship for anyone who wants to stop using drugs. Riverside is served by the Eastern Inland Empire Area of NA, which covers meetings across the city and into Moreno Valley, Corona, and the rest of western Riverside County.

Meetings here are both in person and online, so there is more than one way to find support close to home.

Finding an NA Meeting in Riverside

The meeting finder above searches by proximity, not just city limits, so it will also surface meetings a short drive away in Moreno Valley and Corona, and a bit further out in Hemet.

That is a feature, not a fallback: someone on one side of Riverside may find a closer option a few miles into a neighboring community than in their own part of the city.

Riverside’s own meeting composition stands out within the county. Alongside standard open and closed discussion meetings, the city hosts Candlelight and Basic Text and step study meetings.

They also offer dedicated LGBTQ+ and young people’s meetings, a fuller range than most Riverside County cities offer. Both in-person and virtual meetings are available, which matters if transportation or scheduling makes an in-person meeting hard to reach on a given day.

Drug Use and Overdose in Riverside County

The trend nationally has turned, even though the totals are still high. Riverside County has also recorded a large number of fentanyl-involved deaths over the past two years. The county does not publish overdose counts by city, so the figures below are county-wide.

~97,000
estimated US overdose deaths in the year ending June 2024, a 14% drop from the year before
CDC provisional data, cited 2025
1,381
fatal overdoses countywide, January 2023 through July 2024, about 60% involving fentanyl
Riverside County Overdose Data to Action (RODA), RUHS Public Health, 2025
22.6 per 100,000
Riverside County’s age-adjusted synthetic opioid death rate, above the statewide rate of 19.2
California Opioid Overdose Surveillance Dashboard, 2023 data

Figures above are county-level; Riverside County does not routinely report overdose data broken out by city.

Treatment Options In and Near Riverside

Treatment for opioid use disorder ranges from outpatient counseling to residential care, and for many people it includes medication. Methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are FDA-approved, evidence-based medications for opioid use disorder, and they work alongside NA rather than against it. Many people in NA also take one of these medications as part of their recovery.

Riverside University Health System runs the county’s own Substance Use Prevention and Treatment program, which includes opioid treatment programs, withdrawal management, and outpatient counseling.

Call the program’s CARES Line at 800-499-3008 for a free assessment and referral. The county also operates a 24/7 Mental Health Urgent Care walk-in clinic in Riverside at 9990 County Farm Road, which screens for mental health and substance use crises at no cost regardless of insurance.

FindTreatment.gov and the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) can locate additional licensed options nearby, including private opioid treatment programs based in the city. Read more about levels of care for narcotics addiction.

Naloxone and Harm Reduction

Naloxone is available in California without a prescription. As of January 2026, CalRx-branded over-the-counter naloxone nasal spray costs about $19 for a two-dose pack, roughly half of what it cost a couple of years ago. California’s Naloxone Distribution Project has given out more than 8.8 million free kits statewide since 2018 and reports well over 400,000 overdose reversals.

In Riverside, Inland Empire Harm Reduction is a state-authorized syringe services program that provides free naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and overdose response training through mobile outreach in Riverside and Jurupa Valley, with no ID required.

Call or text 951-446-0983 to arrange a pickup or delivery. California’s Good Samaritan law also offers some protection from drug possession charges for someone who calls 911 to report an overdose. For more on recognizing and responding to an overdose, see what happens during an opioid overdose.
