Running Springs is a small census-designated place in San Bernardino County, in the US state of California. It has been discovered that there are persons in this area suffering from narcotics addiction, which gave rise to the need for Narcotics Anonymous to assist with well needed treatment. This association was established in 1953 as a need for these services was realized. People use drugs to alleviate stress and to find comfort. This however, leads to excessive drug craving and withdrawal symptoms. To treat this, NA meetings in Running Springs has incorporated the 12-step approach, which has proven to be successful; the in-patient facility which includes detoxification; medication; and counselling sessions. Members are allowed to take their family and friends for support, and they are also allowed to speak openly about their addiction, but there are others who are allowed to speak in private, if they prefer. Counselling sessions are also given by previous members who have given testimonies on their rehabilitation. This has proven to be quite helpful.
