How NA Works in Perris

Narcotics Anonymous is a free and peer-led organization with the only requirement for membership being the desire to stop using. There are no dues, fees or referrals required to attend a meeting.  In addition to Perris, s the Eastern Inland Empire Area of NA, part of the Southern California Region, also covers Riverside, Moreno Valley, Corona, Norco and Jurupa Valley.

Meetings In and Around Perris

Because the finder works by distance, it will also uncover addresses in and around Perris. This is especially important here, as there aren’t any active groups currently listed on the Eastern Inland Empire’s schedule in Perris itself.

It does show regular meetings in Moreno Valley, which is about ten miles north on the I-215. As well as a much larger schedule in Riverside.

Meetings in this area include open and closed formats, discussion meetings, Basic Text and step study groups and meetings where children are welcome. Riverside adds candlelight, LGBTQ+, and young people’s meetings along with online options. For those needing Spanish-language meetings, Moreno Valley can meet your needs.

Southeast of Perris, Hemet and San Jacinto belong to a different NA area, so their schedules are published separately.

If you are without a vehicle, you can still reach meetings in the area via public transportation.  Metrolink’s Perris Valley Line runs north from the South Perris and Perris Downtown stations toward Riverside, and Riverside Transit Agency buses connect Perris to Moreno Valley.

Substance Use in Riverside County

Across the country and in Riverside County, the number of overdose deaths continues to fall. In fact, the county marked its turning point in 2024, the first year-over-year decline it recorded since 2019. This improvement is credited to wider naloxone distribution as well as other important harm reduction measures.

• 69,973 drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2025, down almost 14 percent from 2024 and a third straight annual decline. CDC, National Center for Health Statistics, provisional data, 2025.
• 43 percent decline in fentanyl-related overdose deaths in Riverside County in 2024, the county’s first year-over-year drop since 2019. Riverside County Fentanyl Multidisciplinary Committee, 2025.

Because Perris doesn’t publish city-wide numbers, these figures reflect County-level data. 

Getting Treatment In and Around Perris

NA works alongside clinical treatment rather than replacing it. Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), such as methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone, are the evidence-based standard of care and using it as a part of your treatment plan will not keep you from attending NA.

A local resource for connecting you with the treatment you need is Riverside University Health System Behavioral Health, which operates the county CARES Line at (800) 499-3008. It is staffed 24 hours a day for screening, assessment and placement into county substance use programs. It also has a non-emergency treatment referral line available at (800) 879-2772.

Naloxone Access in Riverside County

The California Department of Public Health issued a statewide standing order for Naloxone, the medication that reverses an opioid overdose, which allows anyone to obtain it without a prescription.

The emergency department at Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley is the nearest free source for people living in Perris. It provides take-home nasal naloxone at any hour with no personal information required.

NA Meetings in Perris: Questions and Answers

Are there NA meetings in Perris?

Not currently.  The Eastern Inland Empire Area’s current printed schedule doesn’t list any active groups inside Perris.  However, you can find one in Moreno Valley, about ten miles north, and the finder will show it along with anything newly added and closer to home.

What if there is no meeting near me today?

Online meetings are a good option if you can’t make an in-person meeting or one isn’t available. Online meetings are open to anyone and are offered throughout the day. You can contact the area helpline, which can also tell you what meetings are happening nearby tonight.

Do NA meetings cost anything?

No. NA meetings don’t require fees or dues.  At most meetings, groups pass a basket for members who wish to contribute toward rent and literature. Nobody is expected to give.

Can I get to a meeting without a car?

Yes, public transportation is available here. The Metrolink’s Perris Valley Line and Riverside Transit Agency buses both connect Perris north toward Moreno Valley and Riverside, where the meetings are.

Can I attend NA if I take methadone or buprenorphine?

Yes. NA states that anyone who wants to stop using drugs can attend. However, keep in mind that individual members hold a range of views on medication, and some groups discuss it more openly than others. You may have to try a couple of different meetings to find the right fit.

Taking prescribed medication for opioid use disorder does not bar you from NA.
