Overdose deaths have been falling nationally and across Los Angeles County for two years running, and the San Gabriel Valley has been among the lower-rate parts of the county.

• U.S. drug overdose deaths dropped to 69,973 in 2025, down about 14 percent from 2024 and a third straight annual decline.
• Los Angeles County overdose deaths fell to about 2,300 in 2025, down from a peak of 3,220 in 2022, and the San Gabriel Valley (Service Planning Area 3) continued to see some of the county’s lowest fentanyl death rates.
