About NA Meetings in Miramar

Miramar’s meeting list has only two active groups in the area that use three formats. One of these formats is a beginner’s meeting. This is important when you are just beginning your addiction recovery journey.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are free. They don’t ask you to fill out forms, pay dues or require that you have stopped using before going to your first meeting. Miramar is in the South Broward Area of NA. This area covers Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Hallandale, Cooper City, Dania and Davie.

Finding an NA Meeting in Miramar

Miramar stretches east to west along the Miami-Dade County line. This geography means the meeting closest to one end of the city can be quite a distance from the meeting closest to the other city limit. Drug Use and Overdose in Broward County

Cocaine ranks close behind fentanyl in the drug death figures rather than a distant second in Broward County. Those figures come from Florida’s Medical Examiner District 17 that covers Broward County. The medical examiner publishes two counts for each drug. The first is how often it was detected in a death and the second is the number of deaths the drug caused. The figures below are the number of deaths the drug caused.

• 184 deaths: Cocaine was detected in 258 deaths in District 17 but caused 184 deaths in 2024.    
• 278 deaths: Fentanyl was detected in 300 deaths in District 17 but caused 278 deaths.

Both figures are county-level. Broward County does not publish overdose data at the city level. The smallest geography the state medical examiner system reports is the district and District 17 is the whole county.

Treatment Options In and Near Miramar

NA meetings provide peer support. These work best when the medical side of your recovery journey is also addressed. Medications for opioid use disorder are the standard of care backed up by years of research evidence. These medications include methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone. Please note that using one of these prescription medications doesn’t mean you can’t attend NA meetings. Families looking for ongoing support of their own often find Nar-Anon a better long-term fit, since it is a separate fellowship for the relatives and friends of people with a drug problem.
