NA Meetings in Hollywood: The Basics
Hollywood is the core city of the South Broward Area of Narcotics Anonymous, and it is the first community named in the area’s own coverage list. The area runs a helpline at (954) 967-6755 that volunteers answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calling it is usually the quickest way to get a current answer from someone who actually attends meetings here.
NA costs nothing to attend and is run by its members rather than by clinicians. There is no registration, no insurance question and no referral. Hollywood has in-person groups and online meetings both, so a first meeting can happen the same day you decide to go.
- NA area: South Broward Area, part of the South Florida Region of NA. Helpline (954) 967-6755, answered by volunteers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Online meetings: available alongside the in-person groups.
- Formats in the Hollywood listings: open, closed, discussion, speaker, Basic Text and step study, and men’s meetings.
Where to Look for NA Meetings Near Hollywood
The finder above searches by distance rather than by city limit, which matters in south Broward because the municipal lines sit close together. A search centered on Hollywood pulls in groups meeting in Dania Beach and Hallandale Beach along the Federal Highway (US-1) corridor, in West Park and Pembroke Pines to the west, and in Miramar further southwest toward the Miami-Dade line. Treat that as extra choice rather than a compromise. A meeting ten minutes down the road counts the same as one on your own street.
Hollywood’s own list is one of the larger ones in the county. The most recent listing snapshot carries 19 active meetings across six distinct in-person formats, plus online options. The finder above is always the current source; the shape of the list looks like this:
- Open and closed meetings
- Discussion meetings
- Speaker meetings
- Basic Text and step study groups
- Men’s meetings
- Online meetings
Men’s meetings are listed in Hollywood. Other special-population formats, including beginners, women’s, LGBTQ+ and young people’s groups, are not flagged in the Hollywood listings, which is not the same as saying none run nearby. The South Broward Area helpline can tell you what is meeting this week. For a longer list, Fort Lauderdale carries the largest set of meetings in Broward County, north up the coast, and you can browse every city we cover from the Florida NA meetings directory. If this would be your first one, what to know before your first Narcotics Anonymous meeting covers how the hour usually runs.
The Overdose Picture in Broward County
Florida’s drug death numbers have been moving down. The state’s medical examiners recorded sharp declines across the first half of 2025, and the national count fell for a third year running. The decline is real and it is also partial: fentanyl remained the drug most often involved in Florida deaths over those same months.
- 42 percent fewer opioid-caused deaths in Florida in January through June 2025 than in the same period of 2024, with fentanyl-caused deaths down 46 percent over those months. Florida Medical Examiners Commission, 2025 interim Drugs Identified in Deceased Persons report, via the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, May 2026.
- 69,973 estimated drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2025, down almost 14 percent from the 81,313 estimated in 2024 and a third consecutive annual decline. CDC, National Center for Health Statistics, provisional data, May 2026.
These figures are state-level and national. City-level and county-level 2025 overdose data is not published for Broward, and the state interim report gives percentage change only, not counts.
Broward County’s own numbers are reported drug by drug rather than as a single overdose total, so there is no honest one-line county figure to quote. The 2024 medical examiner breakdown for the county is covered in more detail on the Fort Lauderdale page.
Beyond Meetings: Treatment Near Hollywood
Some people find that meetings are enough on their own, and others need clinical care as well, either first or alongside. Care in Broward runs from medically supervised withdrawal management through residential treatment, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient counseling. Medication for opioid use disorder, meaning methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone, is the evidence-based standard for opioid addiction and sits alongside meeting attendance rather than against it. Nobody at an NA meeting checks what medication you take.
The closest county-operated option is Broward Addiction Recovery Center at 325 SW 28th Street in Fort Lauderdale, which Broward County lists as providing detoxification 24 hours a day along with residential, outpatient and medication-assisted treatment for adults 18 and over, reachable at 954-357-4880. Closer to Hollywood, Memorial Healthcare System lists a medication-assisted treatment program using buprenorphine and naloxone or long-acting naltrexone, an emergency department overdose prevention program that screens and refers into that treatment, and an adult intensive outpatient program, with outpatient behavioral health at 5595 S. University Drive in Davie. Methadone is dispensed only through federally certified opioid treatment programs, which you can filter for by ZIP code on FindTreatment.gov; the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day if you would rather talk it through with a person. Our own guide to inpatient and outpatient treatment options explains what each level of care involves.
Overdose Prevention and Naloxone
Naloxone reverses an opioid overdose and is safe to give to someone who turns out not to be overdosing. The Florida Department of Health in Broward County gives out free naloxone kits, two nasal sprays per kit, with no appointment, to adults who are at risk of an opioid overdose or likely to witness one. There is no county pickup site inside Hollywood city limits. The nearest are the health center pharmacies in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, and the department publishes current locations at broward.floridahealth.gov/locations. The state locator at isavefl.com lists additional providers.
Under section 893.21, Florida Statutes, a person who acts in good faith to get medical help for someone experiencing a drug-related overdose cannot be arrested, charged or prosecuted for drug possession or paraphernalia where the evidence came from seeking that help. The same protection covers someone seeking help for their own overdose. If you carry naloxone, how to get naloxone and use it walks through what to do while you wait for paramedics.
Emergency and Crisis Contacts
If someone cannot be woken, is breathing slowly or not at all, or has blue or grey lips and fingertips, treat it as an overdose and call 911 before anything else. Give naloxone if you have it and stay with the person until help arrives.
