NA Meetings in Hollywood: The Basics

Hollywood is the core city of the South Broward Area of Narcotics Anonymous.  The area runs a helpline, which is answered by volunteers 24/7 at (954) 967-6755.  Calling it is usually the quickest way to get a current answer from someone who actually attends meetings here.

NA is a free, peer-led organization run by its members rather than clinicians. There is no registration, no insurance question and no referral. Hollywood has in-person groups and online meetings, so a first meeting can happen the same day you decide to go.

Where to Look for NA Meetings Near Hollywood

The finder above searches by distance rather than by city limit. This is especially important in South Broward because the municipal lines sit close together. So, a search centered on Hollywood pulls in groups meeting in Dania Beach and Hallandale Beach along the Federal Highway (US-1) corridor.

The Overdose Picture in Broward County

Drug overdose deaths have been falling across the country for the past three years and, encouragingly, in Florida, the state’s medical examiners recorded sharp declines across the first half of 2025 in the state.  Although the decline is real, it’s only partial good news as fentanyl remained the drug most often involved in Florida deaths over those same months.

• 42 percent fewer opioid-caused deaths in Florida in January through June 2025 than in the same period of 2024, with fentanyl-caused deaths down 46 percent over those months. Keep in mind that Broward County’s own numbers are reported drug by drug rather than as a single overdose total. For this reason, there is no honest one-line county figure to quote. The 2024 medical examiner breakdown for the county is covered in more detail on the Fort Lauderdale page.

City- and county- level numbers are not available.  The state interim report provides only percentage change,  not counts.

Beyond Meetings: Treatment Near Hollywood

Some people find meetings are enough on their own, while others also need clinical care,  either before starting meetings or alongside them.

In Broward County, care ranges from medically supervised withdrawal management through residential treatment, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient counseling. Our own guide to inpatient and outpatient treatment options explains what each level of care involves.

Medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone, is the evidence-based standard for opioid addiction. This form of treatment works well with NA fellowship and does not keep you from attending. You will not be required to disclose this part of your treatment plan at a meeting unless you choose to.

If you are ready to look at treatment options near you, the closest county-operated option is Broward Addiction Recovery Center at 325 SW 28th Street in Fort Lauderdale. It is listed as providing detoxification 24 hours a day, along with residential, outpatient and medication-assisted treatment for adults 18 and over. You can reach them at 954-357-4880.

Memorial Healthcare System, which is closer to Hollywood,  lists a medication-assisted treatment program using buprenorphine and naloxone or long-acting naltrexone, an emergency department overdose prevention program that screens and refers into that treatment and an adult intensive outpatient program, with outpatient behavioral health at 5595 S. University Drive in Davie.

If your treatment plan includes the use of methadone, it’s important to keep in mind that it can only be dispensed through federally certified opioid treatment programs, which you can filter for by ZIP code on FindTreatment.gov. If you would rather speak to someone directly, the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day.

Overdose Prevention and Naloxone

The Florida Department of Health gives out naloxone, the drug that reverses an opioid overdose. The free kits include two nasal sprays, which can mean the difference between life and death. You can get a kit without an appointment or personal prescription.

Although there are no pickup sites within Hollywood city limits, kits are available at health center pharmacies in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. The department also publishes current pickup locations at broward.floridahealth.gov/locations.  You can also find a state locator at savefl.com for additional providers.

Another important harm reduction measure is that under section 893.21, Florida Statutes, a person who acts in good faith to get medical help for someone experiencing a drug-related overdose cannot be arrested, charged or prosecuted for drug possession or paraphernalia where the evidence came from seeking that help. As well, the same protection covers someone seeking help for their own overdose.

If someone cannot be woken, is breathing slowly or not at all, or has blue or grey lips and fingertips, treat it as an overdose and call 911 before anything else. Give naloxone if you have it and stay with the person until help arrives.

Yes The only requirement for NA membership is a desire to stop using. You can go while you are still using. You are asked only to arrive in a state where you can sit through the meeting without disrupting it.

My family would like to attend a meeting; is that possible?
