How Does NA Work in Henderson?

Narcotics Anonymous is a free and peer-led organization that is run by people in recovery rather than by addiction professionals. There are no dues, fees or intake paperwork to complete. The only requirement is your desire to quit using drugs.

If you are unsure about attending an in-person meeting for the first time. Online NA meetings in Henderson are the easiest way to sit in on a first meeting without arranging a ride or waiting for a particular night of the week.

Henderson sits in the South Valley Area of Region 51 of Narcotics Anonymous, covering Henderson, Green Valley and southwest Las Vegas, south of Tropicana Boulevard (region51na.org).

Meetings In and Around Henderson

The finder searches by distance rather than by city line, so a Henderson search returns the groups you could realistically get to, including ones with a Las Vegas or Green Valley address. This is because Green Valley and Anthem are Henderson neighborhoods, not separate towns.

Whitney sits just over the line to the northwest, and the southwest side of Las Vegas begins north of Tropicana Boulevard. The NA area Henderson belongs to is drawn the same way, around the south end of the valley rather than around any one set of city limits.

The Henderson area offers open meetings that anyone can attend. As well as Basic Text and step study groups that read NA literature and work the steps in order. At least one Henderson group meets virtually, so if you can’t make an in-person meeting, one is still available to you.

Someone near the Paseo Verde Library on South Green Valley Parkway is often closer to a group on the southwest side of Las Vegas than to anything with a Henderson mailing address, and the radius setting is what brings those into the list.

By widening the search, it picks up the much longer valley list. For example,  Las Vegas offers the most meetings and the widest range of formats in the county. Additionally, North Las Vegas offers groups at the north end of the valley and Boulder City sits just southeast, where the finder leans almost entirely on groups a short drive back toward Henderson.

Substance Use in Clark County

Optimistically, drug deaths in Clark County fell in 2025. The county coroner has attributed the drop to the fentanyl wave tapering off, which tracks with what the national numbers did over the same period. Because no health agency publishes a separate overdose count for Henderson, the county figure below is the closest reliable measure of what is happening here.

Getting Treatment In and Around Henderson

It’s important to keep in mind that NA is not treatment, but many people use it as another support along with professional treatment. Treatment options in Henderson include medically supervised withdrawal management, residential programs, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient counseling. Methadone is also available on site at many opioid treatment programs.

To use buprenorphine or naltrexone as part of your individualized treatment plan, you do not have to enter a residential treatment program to get it. It can be prescribed in standard outpatient and primary care settings.

Methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone are the medications with the strongest evidence behind them for opioid use disorder. Importantly, taking one of them does not conflict with working a NA program. Many people in NA are on medication, and the only membership requirement is the desire to stop using drugs.

Naloxone Access in Clark County

Nevada pharmacies sell Naloxone without a prescription. It is available in nasal spray and injectable forms, and a family member or friend can buy it for someone else (Nevada State Opioid Response). Nevada’s Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act, another important harm reduction measure, protects anyone who gives naloxone or calls 911 for a suspected overdose, including a person calling for help for themselves (NRS 453C, 2015).

There are no free harm reduction vending machines inside Henderson city limits. The nearest listed sites are in Las Vegas at the Center for Behavioral Health machine on East Desert Inn Road and the Trac-B Exchange on West Charleston Boulevard.

NA Meetings in Henderson: Questions and Answers

Does it cost anything to attend a NA meeting?

No. NA has no dues or fees. Many groups pass a basket to cover rent and literature. As a newcomer, you are never expected to contribute.  You do not need insurance, ID, or a referral. Nobody takes your details at the door.

Can I find a virtual NA meeting near Henderson?

Yes. Henderson lists one group as meeting virtually. The wider Region 51 list adds more online meetings across Southern Nevada. You can filter for virtual or online in the finder above. A meeting held on video is open the same way an in-person one is, and you can usually keep your camera off and listen.

Do I have other options if there aren’t any meetings in Henderson today?

In the finder, you can widen the search radius to find meetings in other areas.  Because Henderson sits inside the South Valley Area, it also covers Green Valley and southwest Las Vegas; overall, the valley has meetings most days. Do I have to stop using before I go to a meeting?

No. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using drugs. You don’t even need a stretch of abstinence first.  It’s not uncommon for people to come to a first meeting while still using. Something to be aware of:  if you are physically dependent on opioids, alcohol or benzodiazepines, it can be dangerous to stop suddenly without support.  For this reason, be sure to ask a clinician about medically supervised withdrawal before you stop.

Can a family member attend an NA meeting?

Open meetings are the ones a family member, partner or friend can attend. In Henderson-area meetings, start with those listed as open.
