NA Meetings in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs is home to a full weekly schedule of Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Groups here meet most days of the week, and you can find several options on some nights.
The mix of meetings ranges from open and closed to speaker meetings, discussion meetings and step study groups. So you have plenty of options to find a good fit.
If the local options don’t line up with your schedule, you can head north to Denver, where you’ll find a much larger schedule. A short drive south to Pueblo also gives you options close to home.
What an NA Meeting Is Like
NA meetings are free gathering of peers who want to stop using drugs and support each other in doing so. Open meetings are for anyone, including family members. Closed meetings are specifically for people who want to stop using drugs.
At speaker meetings, you can hear one person share their story. At discussion meetings, you can join a conversation about a specific topic. And at step studies, you can walk through the 12 Steps of NA.
With any format, a few things remain the same. You don’t have to pay anything, say anything or commit to anything. You can sit, listen and leave if that’s what you want to do. No questions asked.
Getting to a Meeting Here
Meetings in Colorado Springs are spread across the city, so you may be able to find one near your neighborhood. For others, a car or rideshare are your best bet to reach them.
If scheduling or transportation is an issue, online meetings are also available. And if you need more options, the Colorado meeting directory shows you meetings in every city that has a listing.
When a Meeting Isn’t Enough
NA offers peer fellowship, not medical treatment. And some situations require more than a meeting can provide.
Withdrawal from opioids or benzodiazepines can be physically dangerous without medical supervision. A clinician should be involved if you’re quitting either of these drugs, so be sure to contact a doctor for guidance.
For opioid use disorder in particular, medication such as methadone or buprenorphine is a common part of recovery. This treatment doesn’t conflict with working an NA program. Plenty of people engage in both.
As you weigh your options, you can review this opiate detox overview or learn more about methadone before talking to a doctor.
