Islip has just one Narcotics Anonymous meeting listed on its local calendar. That gives the area a steady home base, but one meeting won’t cover every night of the week. What an NA meeting is like

If you are nervous about your first NA meeting, that’s pretty normal, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. Here are a few things to know.

NA is a peer led fellowship for people who want to stop using or no longer use. Open meetings welcome anyone, including family members or people who want to learn more. Closed meetings are for people who have used or want to stop using. There are also speaker meetings where one person shares their journey, discussion meetings where the group focuses on a specific topic and step meetings that are for working through the 12 steps with others.

You will never be required to speak, pay any dues or register to attend a meeting. You also don’t have to be clean for a specified amount of time to come.
