What an NA Meeting Is Like

You don’t need any sobriety time to attend. There’s no fees. And you don’t have to sign up or commit to anything. Narcotics Anonymous is a free peer fellowship rather than a treatment program.

Open meetings welcome anyone. This includes family members who attend to support you or are simply curious about NA. Closed meetings are solely for individuals who want to stop using drugs (or already have).

Most meetings follow one of three formats. Speaker meetings feature one person sharing their story. Discussion groups allow participants to discuss one topic for the hour. And step studies go through the 12 Steps in detail.

Getting to a Meeting in Worcester

If you don’t have reliable transportation, online NA meetings let you attend without traveling at all. For in person meetings, you’ll most likely need a car or rideshare option, since meetings are spread out around the city.

When a Meeting Is Not Enough

NA meetings offer peer support, not medical care. Anyone withdrawing from opioids or benzodiazepines should consult a clinician. Stopping on your own can pose serious physical risks.
